Wood Dale

For my first race of the year I did the Wood Dale Crit last Sunday. I did the Cat 5 race and was the sole Tower representative in that category. It was 20 minutes plus 2 laps.

It was an fairly uneventful race. One guy went down and one tube blew but other than that the group (around 30) stayed together. I felt the most comfortable at the back and hung on for the whole ride finishing with the pack. We averaged around 25.2 MPH. I was very happy with how everything went.

The course was a simple rectangle with a slight hill on the short side between turns 3 and 4. Very safe with the clockwise rotation. The interesting thing about the hill was that it seemed to get easier as the race went on. Not sure if I ddn’t warm up enough or what.

There were other Tower racers in different races. I hope to see their reports soon.
